Refrigerant PT charts
Pressure temperature charts for 9 refrigerants, with bubble and dew, and a superheat and subcooling calculator on every chart.
Pick a refrigerant. Each chart runs in 2 °F steps in psig at sea level, generated from CoolProp, which uses the same family of equations of state as NIST REFPROP, and the A2L blends are cross-checked against Chemours Opteon values.
| Refrigerant | Safety class | Glide | Composition |
|---|---|---|---|
| R-410A | A1 | 0.19 °F | R-32 / R-125 (50/50 wt) |
| R-22 | A1 | none | HCFC-22 (chlorodifluoromethane) |
| R-454B | A2L | 2.34 °F | R-32 / R-1234yf (68.9/31.1 wt) |
| R-32 | A2L | none | difluoromethane (GWP 675) |
| R-404A | A1 | 0.9 °F | R-125 / R-143a / R-134a (44/52/4 wt) |
| R-134a | A1 | none | 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane |
| R-407C | A1 | 11.1 °F | R-32 / R-125 / R-134a (23/25/52 wt) |
| R-454C | A2L | 13.96 °F | R-32 / R-1234yf (21.5/78.5 wt) |
| R-290 | A3 | none | propane |
How to read a PT chart with glide
Blends like R-454B, R-407C and R-454C boil over a range of temperatures, called glide. That is why their charts have two pressure columns. Read the dew column to find the saturation temperature for superheat on the suction side, and the bubble column for subcooling on the liquid side. Single component refrigerants like R-32, R-22 and R-134a have one pressure per temperature.
- Superheat is the suction line temperature minus the dew saturation temperature at suction pressure.
- Subcooling is the bubble saturation temperature at liquid pressure minus the liquid line temperature.
